For the record: Nivix Guildmage.
Has anybody else been running this guy since RtR released? Personally, I've been flat-out amazed with how he performs. Both of his abilities seem pretty solid. Mostly I wanted to mention his interaction with Turnabout. It combos for infinite mana the same way Reiterate does. It doesn't get you an infinite storm count, but it does go off for [2] mana less, which I think is pretty relevant. And then he provides a way to win off your infinite mana as well with his looting ability. Find Laboratory Maniac or something. As a creature, though, he is much easier for your opponent to interact with. But as redundancy/filter, I think he works pretty well. Works the same way with Time Spiral, now that I think about it, in a way that Reiterate can't.
Has anyone else found any more interactions/solid uses for this guy? What do you think of him as a combo piece?

I haven't had a chance to test him, but I really would like to. I have a Wizard's U/R tribal that it'd be a blast in.

He's really not too shabby. The best combo pieces pull weight on their own. In this guy's case, how much weight he pulls is relative to how often you want to spend 5 mana for 2 Brainstorms or Lightning bolts or Swords or what have you. His utility costs a LOT of mana.
He does combo out with Early Harvest and Rude Awakening too.

I wanted nivix for the same reason you did and he has been awesome for me as well. The way I see it he is a Reiterate on a stick + some sweet filter. The funest thing I have done is copy Fact or Fiction. Nivix interacts well with any spell you want to copy.

8 mana used to buy you a Griselbrand, though, so paying 8 for 2 FoF... I don't know. Good in an instant speed deck where opportunity cost is low, but overall it's pretty expensive compared to other spell copying creatures.
Not needing to tap is beautifully unique, though, true. It's just that I've never really been a fan of combos. And so if you're judging whether this combo piece is good on its own, I'd say no. Then of course there's always that thing of an opponent seeing him, know you're playing Untap spells, then beat your face in a way you can't do anything about since you're playing a deck where it costs 1RU to loot a card. And opponent recognition also leads to scenarios where you have Turnabout on the stack, pay 4 to copy it, have 2-3 mana left, then someone kills it and you don't have enough mana to just put a copy on top of the stack and proceed as normal. Need 12 mana for that, at which point you might as well hardcast Omniscience or T&N the old fashioned way.
Meh. Izzet Guildmage is both better and worse.

I added this to my Riku list mostly as redundancy with Mirari. However, I haven't seen him much yet and was already running Early Harvest and Rude Awakening, so I'm excited to see it. Also his looting ability as a mana dump is nothing to overlook.

He is in my deck for redundancy with reiterate but has found extra utility so for now he is worth the slot. As for killing him at instant speed yes that is possible but it is also possible for them to counter reiterate or turnabout. Sometimes Omniscience does not work for the plan which in this case is to kill with BSZ or a fireball effect.
